Winning an order for a high-speed vapour degreasing machine has underlined the success of a recent series of industry workshops organised by Nuneaton-based Kumi Solutions Ltd — the cleaning-systems specialist — in conjunction with Safechem and Pero.

Visitors to these events learnt how to achieve top-quality surface-cleaning results while complying with the latest legal and environmental requirements. Seminar sessions covered topics such as safe and sustainable cleaning methods, risk management ands solvent selection, while back-to-back demonstrations of four Pero machines allowed visitors to evaluate the results of different cleaning chemistries on their own products.

Simon Graham, managing director of Kumi, said: “We have been delighted at the response to our Open Days. Attendees ranged from representatives of a Formula One race team and several aerospace companies to repetition turned-parts producers and fastener manufacturers. We even had a company specialising in recycling high-grade alloys. As a result, demonstrations covered the full spectrum of application requirements, from the machining of components in exotic alloys to the cleaning and reprocessing of the swarf generated in their manufacture.

“The machine order placed during the show underlines the capabilities of Pero’s equipment and must be the fastest sale in our company’s history — taking just 18 days from initial inquiry to receipt of order. We are also working on a number of further opportunities that originated at the Open Days.”
